TEC Faculty Affiliates for Courses in Entrepreneurship (FACE) Program

The Technology Entrepreneur Center (TEC) invites tenure-track engineering faculty to join our Faculty Affiliates for Courses in Entrepreneurship (FACE) Program to increase the number of courses in the College of Engineering that incorporate technology commercialization, entrepreneurship, and creativity.
Engineering faculty members in the FACE program are encouraged to offer their courses both on campus and online. Therefore, TEC is seeking 400- and 500-level course proposals. Both new and existing courses can be considered as part of the program.

Financial Support for FACE Members

The TEC encourages faculty to launch these courses and teach them on campus during the summer, at which point they would be taped for online dissemination through the Office of Continuing Education. This model provides the following financial benefits to the instructor:

  • Summer salary may be available from the department through which the summer on-campus course is taught.
  • TEC revenue-share of $230 per student per credit hour with the course instructor for online course offerings. The TEC encourages instructors to offer the course online as often as they see fit. For example, if an instructor offers a 2-credit course with a total annual online enrollment of 45, their earnings would be $20,700 plus any summer salary earned from their department.
Additional TEC support for FACE Member courses

In addition to the financial incentives outlined above, the TEC will provide the following support for FACE member-taught courses:

  • Online/video course modules that can be incorporated into the new or existing course in finance, marketing, strategy, law, or other appropriate topic areas related to technology entrepreneurship.
  • Collaborative teaching opportunities with other TEC and FACE faculty members.
  • Course advertising for on-campus and online course offerings. TEC will work with the Office of Continuing Engineering Education to ensure that the FACE courses are included in the online engineering course catalog that is disseminated to alumni and previous online course enrollees three times per year. In addition, TEC will advertise the courses at events and programs; in newsletters, and in additional appropriate means throughout the year to drive both on-campus and online enrollment.
  • Grading and administrative support.
